I'm not sure who exactly is reading this blog. The internal stats say 200 people, per entry, from around our globe: US to South America to Europe to China (my new Chinese friends, I suppose?).
I'm humbled, and also thrilled that you saw China through my eyes. It was a journey filled with important personal lessons that will stay with me for a long time.
Next on my agenda is the fun task of writing a feature length movie based on my experiences there. But ever since I've been back, I've been moving in slow motion. Like, my thoughts about the characters and story, coupled with my regular "to-do list" for the today, runs over into tomorrow, and so on and so on, because I just don't have the frenetic busy-bee energy.
Yet there IS one thing that I do have energy for. Cooking.
Yep. Imagine that. I'm being sarcastic because I come from a family of excellent cooks.
But here's what I'm talking about:

I woke up one day and randomly decided to make a rosemary garlic loaf. I combed through 3 cookbooks and a few internet sites to find one that seemed easy enough for a newbie like me. |

Well how about that? This came out pretty darn good for my first try. |

I had it with butter, with cream cheese, with brie and smoked gouda, and then I used the last of it to make crutons for a salad. This was the loaf that kept on giving. I can't wait to try it again. |
Being in the kitchen brings me so much joy. And I have a sneaky suspicion that my new found culinary hobby... is really about a character who is ready to emerge. So I will honor him or her, by starting a "look what I tried" blog from my kitchen.
I hope you'll join me!
Stay tuned for more...
