Hong Kong for the night. . .

We're heeere!  Landed safe and sound.
Looking tired and beat up. But glad to be here.
Singing Pharrell's "HAPPY" to be off the plane.
Says he couldn't do not one more minute.

A Chinese woman thought hubby looked like President Obama.  Not kidding.  She insisted on four pictures with him.  That I took, of course.  *shrugs*  When in China, "Give the people what they want."

We took an express train and then a bus to Kowloon.  $8 USD.

Kowloon is 18 square miles, and has a population of 2 million.  There are lots of skyscrapers and bright lights. Looks like Times Square. Our hotel is in the heart of everything.
Kowloon, Hong Kong
We dropped our bags and stepped out to find dinner.  Lots of people were shouting at us to buy fake watches, wallets, purses and to have our suits tailor made.
Rain stopped.  9PM, on a Tuesday.  Lots of people out.

My father and father-in-law will be amused to know my hubby's first meal in Hong Kong was spicy chicken wings.  :-)

After dinner,  we entertained one of the shouting vendors.  A very nice man named Abdul, who took us down an alley, up an elevator, right turn into a long, cold, skinny hallway, and then finally entered his locked office  - that was the size of a bathroom.  He showed us pictures of his merchandise, then called a runner to come bring some samples up.  Poor thing, Abdul's fake stuff looked fake.  So funny!

But he had a tailor shop too.  ("15 jobs!!!!")  We looked at fabrics and got a sense of the pricing.

Here are more pictures from the night.

Hotel upgraded us to a HUGE suite. Nice!
From our room.  See that grey train station below?  Tomorrow we'll take the train from there to the border, and then walk into Shenzhen, China.
We're such tourists.  A picture of him taking a picture.

Lots of convenience stores had the same jared food, set up the same way with orange labels.

No idea what these items are, but the conversion is EXPENSIVE!
The top one, $2,800 HKG,  is about $361.00 USD, per lbs.

No one spoke English and they weren't very friendly when we asked what these were.
We figured out the yellow one is fish.

Next stop tomorrow: Shenzhen, China.  Where we'll be for four days.
